Handmade ceramic lighting. Small batches, local materials and a workshop that does not hurry.
Our story
Handmade, Timeless Design
Every design takes shape through a holistic approach that brings the natural texture of ceramic together with contemporary form. Each lighting piece comes to life through a made-to-order process centred on careful handwork and quality; the direct touch of the makers gives every piece its own character.
This approach is strengthened by the studio's design vision. The seamless match of design and craft produces pieces that are timeless in both looks and use. Arcela works across lighting design, custom ceramic collections, space-led collaborations and architectural projects; every project is realised through an honest dialogue with the material and an eye for detail.
From clay to light
01
Clay
Every piece starts with local clay from ground we know, brought to the right consistency for the mould.
02
Form
Liquid clay is poured into the mould, where the form is born. Each piece is finished by hand; the thickness of the wall decides how the light gets through.
03
Glaze
A natural glaze does not seal the surface. Speckles and runs find their own way.
04
Kiln
Fired at high heat, the piece finds its colour. Every kiln opening is a small surprise.
05
Light
Socket, cord and canopy are fitted by hand. At the final check the lamp is switched on and looked at.
By day an object, by night a light.
Switched off it is a quiet part of the room: the texture of the glaze, the line of the form. Switched on, the ceramic filters the light and warms the room.

The same, but not the same
No piece is a copy of another.
Even two lamps from the same batch differ in how the glaze runs and the speckles fall. Yours is only yours.
You cannot hurry a lamp. Clay needs to dry, glaze needs to settle. So we wait, because a light that will burn for years is worth a few more days of work.
